Education: 1951-56 Eston School Cleveland 1977-81 Humberside University Hons. Fine Art B.A. 1985 Kansas City art Institute, Kansas Missouri, USA Industrial Experience: 1951-61 Tracer in the Drawing Office at Dorman Long’s Steelworks, Middlesbrough, Teesside. Teaching experience: 1983-84 Part-time Assistant in Art & Design at David Lister Comprehensive School, Kingston upon Hull 1984-89 Lecturer in Hull Adult Education Department at centres throughout the Hull area both daytime and evening. 1986-80 Head of Art, Hymer’s College, Kingston upon Hull 1989-90 Lecturer in Foundation Studies, and on the part-time Fine Art Degree at Humberside University, School of Fine Art. 1990 till present. Free-lance Artist and Art Consultant in a variety of settings throughout the North Yorkshire and Cleveland region, holding many ‘Artist in Residence’ placements. Exhibitions. 1981 Fine Art Degree Show, Humberside University, School of Fine Art Queen’s Gardens, Kingston upon Hull. 1981-84 Member of the Hull Artists Association, taking part in all of their shows notably the invitational at the ‘Westersingel Gallery’ in Rotterdam, Holland. 1984 Ferens Gallery Hull. Usher Galley, Lincoln. Worked on a Mural on board the ‘Raleigh’ the flagship of the outreach project’ Operation Raleigh’. 1985 Nelson Atkins Gallery, Kansas City Mo. U.S.A. worked on the ‘Festival of the Imagination Project’. 1986 Designed and executed interior design work for the Oasis Wine bar, Hull. 1989 Show of Paintings and Collages at the Posterngate Gallery as part of the Ferens Art Gallery temporary exhibition programme. 1991 Exhibition of workshop pieces at the TSB Lloyd’s Bank in Whitby and at the Danby Centre of the North York Moors National Park. 1997 Exhibition of Paintings and Collages at the Sutton Bank Centre of the North York Moors national Park. 1998 Exhibition of Paintings and Collages at Scarborough Art Gallery. The Exhibition was around the theme of ‘Images of Experience’. 1998 Work included in the East Coast Open Exhibition at Scarborough Art Gallery. 2004 Exhibition of paintings at Beverley Art Gallery. 2005 Major one person show at Sewerby Hall, East Yorkshire with significant new work based on the East Coast landscape. 2005 Joint show with three other women artists at the Pannett Art Gallery Whitby, on the theme ‘Testament of Nature’ presenting four very different interpretations of seeing. 2006 Invited Artist with The Fylingdales Group of Artists at their annual exhibition at Pannett Art Gallery , Whitby. Elected to full membership of the Group.
